After earning his real estate license, Mike first worked in agricultural real estate sales, along with the fast-paced field of livestock auctioneering. Quick thinking and the ability to read body language were skills honed. Mike later was introduced to General Aviation Aircraft sales by a friend, and Mike turned the corner, for a time, to aviation. Mike earned both his MEII (Multi-engine Instructor-Instrument) and AGII (Advanced Ground

Instructor-Instrument) ratings in order to better position himself for sales in aviation. Instead of aviation sales; however, he went on to work for the Federal Aviation Administration in the Air-Traffic Control Division taking him to Oklahoma City, Kansas City, Colorado Springs, and finally back to his home state of Iowa. Returning to Iowa and remembering the Okoboji Lifestyle, Mike and is wife, Sharon, chose to move with their four young children to the Iowa Great Lakes, recognizing this as a great location with excellent schools...perfect for raising their family. Here, in the Great Lakes, Mike has enjoyed a very successful career in Marine Sales at both Parks Marina and Mau Marine before turning back to his first passion...real estate sales. Through Mike’s success in the boat industry, where he sold hundreds upon hundreds of boats, as well as his consistent real estate sales, Mike has a very well-connected sphere of influence and in-depth knowledge of this region. Mike states that his main goal as a realtor is to alleviate the stress that can surface for a client when buying or selling a property. Because of this, Mike chooses to spend considerable time and resources to continually enhance his knowledge base benefiting his clients. I am writing this letter to recommend Mike as your realtor. Mike was asked to take over the real estate sale of my parents’ lake home. The property had been up for sale for 6 months with no interest shown by our other realtor or prospective buyers. Mike’s main selling point to hire him as our realtor was his promise to have Open Houses on a regular basis to help get the home noticed. As it turned out, Mike not only had Open Houses, he helped people imagine new layouts for the house; however, most importantly to me, he was more realistic about the purchase price on the home to start with. Mike also helped us sell a rural acreage. Once again, his knowledge of the local market helped us come up with a realistic list price for this real estate. There were a number of prospective buyers. Mike went above and beyond to make the sale work by helping to redraw the property lines to include a well and dam to ensure a continuous supply of water to the home. It was a pleasure to work with Mike. These sales were especially challenging since the properties were from an Estate. Mike had to communicate with 3 Executives to the Estate... who all lived in 3 different states. Mike stepped up to the challenge, sold our property, had some happy buyers, and very happy sellers.

We had been looking for a cabin in the Okoboji area for about 2 years. Mike was just great to work with during the process. Since we were from the Twin cities we were not able to come down and look at homes that often. Every time that we were able to come down Mike arranged several homes for us to look at and was able to give us a great variety of homes to look at within our price range. His knowledge of the lakes area was fantastic! Once we settled on a home, Mike was able to negotiate a great deal. He was even able to negotiate the boat hoist into our deal that saved us a lot of time and money. The process was pretty seamless. He also had some local connections with a mortgage broker in town and that made the process very easy. Our new home was great but we wanted to do a few upgrades. Mike lead us to a great bunch of contractors that were very easy to work with on our projects. If we had to do that alone it would have taken significantly more time and effort. We cannot say enough great things about Mike. He helped find our dream cabin and was able to answer any questions or concerns we had after the sale. He truly cares about his clients their happiness. When my wife, a retired realtor, and I considered selling our condo, we looked into the many realtors available in the area; we decided to go with Mike Schrunk. We could not have been more pleased. Mike used some great tools for advertising, including a virtual tour of the interior of our home and drone photography for the condo-complex and shoreline. These were not only used on the local MLS, but also syndicated out to over a dozen frequented home markets. These methods almost made my property look better than it was! Mike was very "hands-on" when getting our home ready to market. He had suggestions for decluttering, and when I suggested a new paint color, Mike even brought in a local painter. She actually said our home had great colors and looked fine. This saved us a lot of stress, time, and money. Mike readily kept us informed when offers came in and helped us know how to handle them. Mike did all the little things right...that led to a successful sale. My wife and I were very secure with Mike's knowledge, judgments, and professionalism... from listing to closing.
